Drug Take Back Program

The Eureka Police Department has a prescription drug collection box in the lobby area of the Police Department. This drug collection box was the first year-round prescription medication collection offered in St. Louis County, and is available to residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Purpose

Safely dispose of your unused, unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medicines.  Free of charge to you.  No questions asked. Prevent these substances from getting in the hands of unwitting youth or those seeking to abuse them.

Acceptable & Unacceptable Items

Items that can be placed in the secure drug drop box include (pills, patches)  

  • narcotics
  • non-narcotics
  • over the counter medications
  • veterinary medications.

Items that should not be placed in the drop box:

  • Needles or sharps
  • Liquids
  • Radioactive Medicines
  • Aerosols

Instructions

Place all pill medications in zip lock storage bags and deposit them in the Drug Take-Back receptacle in the lobby of the police department. Remember to remove RX labels and dispose of the medication packaging in your household refuse.
