The Eureka Scarecrow Festival is Back for its 7th Year
The City of Eureka will once again come alive the entire month of October with colorful and artistic scarecrows posing regally in front of businesses, churches, schools and private homes. These are not your ordinary scarecrows! Each one is a work of art! Whether you visit uptown Eureka, along Fifth Street, running parallel to I-44, or stroll down Central Avenue in downtown/old town Eureka, you will experience a fun and festive feast for the eyes; but make sure you venture down the side streets, too! Scarecrows are “everywhere”!
“As many concerts and festivals have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 virus, the Eureka Scarecrow Festival actually lends itself to be the perfect event in our current conditions,” shared Julie Wood, Communication Director and Eureka Chamber of Commerce Board member.
“While there will be changes in place, we have been working hard to keep the spirit of this amazing festival alive so that we can keep the joy and benefits it brings to our businesses and community.”
Festival organizers have changed many of the special events that are peppered throughout the month of October to follow St. Louis County health and safety guidelines.
Events include a drive in movie featuring the cult classic Beetle Juice, a small business week focusing on boosting the heavy-hit retail and restaurant industry in the area, a family pumpkin carving contest, a golf cart parade, Sunday farmer’s markets at Melvin Brewing and more.
